DataBlend Spotlight: Have you met Mike Mooney yet?

Written by Kate Johnson | Mar 18, 2026 1:20:14 AM

Have you met Mike Mooney, our brand-new Director of Business Development at DataBlend? He recently joined the team but is no stranger to helping finance teams improve processes and eliminate manual workflows across their technology stack.

Where are you from?

I live in the Granite State of New Hampshire with my wife and our two children. We are surrounded by the beautiful mountains and lakes of the Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee Region.

Tell me about your role?

I recently joined DataBlend as Director of Business Development after more than a decade of working in the Workday ecosystem. Throughout my career I’ve worked closely with finance leaders to modernize planning, reporting, and operational data flows. This move feels a bit like a full-circle moment for me. I was around in the early days when DataBlend started as a simple connector between QuickBooks and Adaptive. Since then, I’ve watched the platform grow into a powerful integration solution for the “house of finance.” I’m excited to now be part of the team focused on expanding strategic partnerships, identifying high-impact integration use cases, and helping organizations move financial data more seamlessly across their technology stack.

What are you most excited about working for DataBlend?

After spending more than ten years helping organizations implement planning and finance systems, I noticed a consistent challenge: the systems themselves worked well, but the movement of data between them was still largely manual or broken. DataBlend solves that problem. I’m excited to work with finance and operations teams to help remove those friction points so they can spend less time managing data and more time focusing on insights and decision-making.

Three fun facts about you.

  1. I volunteer as a coach for my children’s basketball and baseball teams
  2. I’ve produced and directed two independent documentaries 100: Head/ Heart/ Feet & On Main that stream on Vermont PBS
  3. I recently released a collection of songs under the name Caution Horse

How has automation changed the way you work?

Automation has shifted the focus of my work from gathering and reconciling data to helping organizations think more strategically about how their systems, processes, and people work together. Instead of spending time chasing data across systems, teams can rely on automation to move and prepare it in the background. That allows finance leaders to focus on analysis, planning, and better decision-making. In many ways, automation hasn’t removed the human element—it has elevated it.
