Where are you from?
I grew up in Dallas, TX and currently reside in McKinney, TX, which is 40 minutes north of Dallas. Fun fact about DataBlend - Jonathan is one of two DataBlend team members that reside in the Lone Star State!
What’s your background?
I've spent the majority of my professional journey in FP&A and Accounting with a brief stint in Investor Relations. I have worked for companies of all sizes and scope throughout my roles, and have spent a good portion of my time transforming data so DataBlend has been a strong fit for my skillset. I hold two BBA’s and have an MBA from Texas Tech University (Wreck ‘em!)
Tell me about your role.
I am part of the Implementation Services team at DataBlend. We work closely with clients on a daily basis to ensure their success using our platform and bridging their systems. Our Service Support team works on the initial integration for our clients and then continues supporting their on-going needs as they grow and evolve after the implementation phase has been completed.
How do you empower finance and accounting?
I am able to utilize my background and years of experience in FP&A and accounting to understand the challenges that our clients face in their close, budgeting, and forecasting processes. By bridging processes and systems, we can improve on the amount of time spent analyzing and reporting on the data instead of producing the data.
How has automation changed the way you work?
From my previous roles, automating the busy yet mundane month-end close steps (however necessary) allowed me to find a better use of my time that added more value to the organization. Now that I'm at DataBlend, I constantly hear from clients that certain finance and accounting processes used to take hours and after implementing DataBlend, they can do the same processes in minutes with incredible accuracy. Hearing those words is very rewarding. I remember how many hours I used to spend doing similar work. DataBlend empowers clients to automate routine tasks, which allows them to spend their time in more valuable places - - - like analyzing and reporting on the data.
