New DataBlend Column Mapper UI Update Releases Today

We've made some exciting updates to the DataBlend Column Mapper UI to enhance your experience, making it more consistent, intuitive, and efficient. Here's a look at what's new:

Enhanced Source Column Editor

The Source column now utilizes the same Expression Editor components as those found in the Expression Builder, Join, and Where conditions. A gear icon allows users to:

  • Easily change expression types (e.g., from Identifier to Literal)
  • Copy and paste

SQL Code Display

Columns and literals are now shown as SQL code instead of tags

Performance Improvements

The previous drag-and-drop swap functionality has been removed to improve performance. Users can now use the gear icon to copy/paste expressions instead.

Aliased Schema Column Support

When editing existing queries that use Aliased Schema Columns, they can remain Aliased Schema columns and can even be modified (e.g., change the column or add/edit transforms), as long as you aren't trying to wrap the Aliased Schema Column in another expression.

New Tools for Efficiency

  • The "Delete All" option allows you to delete all column mappings
  • Duplicate target/alias names now trigger a warning

Data Target Selection:

  • "Select Data Target" is limited to the main query (not WITH queries), but autocomplete options are still available
  • Selected data targets populate the main query with required fields
  • Automatically added required fields can be deleted and will not repopulate upon page load or refresh

Improved Data Target Edit Page

  • Creating a new query from the "+" icon now opens the query editor in the new UI by default
  • The "Select Data Target" dropdown only shows relevant target options

The new UI releases later today. Let us know if you have any questions or feedback! The DataBlend release notes will be updated by the end of the day: https://lp.datablend.com/knowledge/release-notes-1
